Table for One?
Apparently, the president of Brazil refused to sit next to Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir at a luncheon during the recent Arab-South American summit in Qatar.
Reports say that he “ate only the appetizer and, to see the arrival of the President of Sudan, which was delayed, stood up, greeted him briefly, and left saying he had an appointment”.
Some say the Brazilian president simply wanted to rest before afternoon meetings. However, others believe it was an attempt to avoid being seen with Bashir and having to answer questions afterward.
Whatever the reason, the Brazilian leader certainly made a stand by refusing to sit.
