Hi everyone,

This fall we will launch Phase 3: Trauma Recovery for East African Refugees in San Diego. Meanwhile, headlines like this are all too frequent and extremely alarming: UN relief chief warns of looming disaster amid linked crises in Sudan and South Sudan.

Given the urgency, we wanted to do an event to connect the dots between the crises in Sudan / South Sudan, those who have come from there to live in the US arriving as refugees, and the project we will soon be launching in San Diego.

We invite you to attend a Screening of “God Grew Tired of Us” – July 27 in Irvine. This excellent documentary tells the story of refugees fleeing Sudan to arrive in Kenya, ultimately making a life in the US. San Diego residents, Joseph Jok, Julia Julima and Wai John Wai came to the US as refugees many years ago. I am delighted they will be joining us for the discussion that evening.

Also, we just added a fundraiser at the Veggie Grill – Irvine Spectrum on August 7 from 6p – 9:30p. The Veggie Grill will donate 50% of all sales during that time as long as you mention “Living Ubuntu” when you place your order. So please save the date and plan to go out to dinner there with lots of hungry friends. The food is great and it is one more way to support our project, Trauma Recovery for Refugees.
