Expanding the Circle of Compassion

As pulsating organisms we need each other – A Screening of Cowspiracy Feb 28

The environment is in us, not outside of us. The trees are our lungs, the rivers are our bloodstream. We are all interconnected, and what you do to the environment, ultimately you do to yourself.
 – Ian Somerhalder

Hi everyone,

If you have ever been fortunate enough to spend time with David Berceli, creator of Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE), it doesn’t take long before it feels natural to think of the human race as a bunch of pulsating organisms. And once that happens, the world will never look the same again. The trouble is that the vast majority of us are not fully pulsating; in order to block our pain, we are stuck in a defensive contraction. What happens when an entire society is contracted? We potentially miss really important opportunities to support the well-being and survival of our own species.

What if the way we have adapted in order to feel less of our own suffering is blocking us from fully taking in where we are as a species in terms of climate change?

On February 28 Orange County for Climate Action will host A Screening of Cowspiracy in Irvine. I can’t emphasize enough how important viewing this film is – so please join us. As mammals, we cannot regulate ourselves in isolation. We are relational beings and rhythm-bound organisms. When dealing with difficult material – we need each other – we need to be together. Yet, this film is so important that if for some reason you can’t view it with us, please do find a way to watch it on your own.
