Expanding the Circle of Compassion

Ready to launch Phase 2 of Trauma Recovery for Refugees… and more…

Do your little bit of good where you are; its those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.
– Desmond Tutu

Hi everyone,

We are incredibly grateful to all of you who contributed to Phase 2 of Trauma Recovery for Refugees. We met our fundraising goal (yay!) and will be launching Educating Refugee Leaders About Trauma, PTSD & Recovery right on schedule beginning this week : )

Here are a few other things we will be doing this month we thought you might like to know about.

International Day of Peace at Golden West College
Tuesday, September 24 11a – 3p
This will be a special day at GWC. They are getting a peace poll installed! A screening of the film, “Peace One Day”, and much, much more will all be part of the celebration.
Living Ubuntu will have a booth at this event, so come say “hi”.

Walk for Unity hosted by The Tiyya Foundation
Saturday, September 28 8:30a check-in; 9a-10a walk
This walk is in advance of the city of Irvine’s Global Village Festival and is designed to bring the community together in support of global harmony and celebrate cultural diversity.
Living Ubuntu will be there, and you?

Screening of Granito: How to Nail a Dictator
Sunday, September 29 6p refreshments; 6:40p background; 7p screening
Amnesty International – Irvine, IUCC Advocates and Living Ubuntu have partnered on this film screening, “…the extraordinary story of how a film, aiding a new generation of human rights activists, became a granito — a tiny grain of sand — that helped tip the scales of justice….” Guatemala recently made history by bringing to justice a génocidaire within his own country, but the story’s not over yet…
We hope you will be there.

Grateful for your support,
