Hi everyone,

Crisis is ongoing in Sudan.

Thankfully, the courageous Nick Kristof snuck into the Nuba region to cover the atrocities for the New York Times.  (See: In Sudan, Seeing Echoes of Darfur, Dodging Bombers in Sudan, and Battling Sudan’s Bombs With Videos)  Sometimes we underestimate the power of bearing witness, or holding another in mind.  Often, we want action, we want it fast, we want it effective and anything else just seems irrelevant and impotent.  Yet, like Sudan, life’s situations don’t always come ready-made with fast-action options. They are often complicated and require attention for the long-term.

Mass atrocities are an extreme example of horrors, yet we encounter situations day in and day out that call upon us to make a choice: to turn toward, turn against, or turn away.  Turning toward those we love is often hard enough. Turning toward global horror is a whole different thing.  Or is it?

Along these lines, our Living Ubuntu Spring Retreat will take place in May and explore these very issues, the under-recognized power of holding others in heart and mind.  More information will be available soon.  We would love to have you join us.
