Expanding the Circle of Compassion

Upcoming events in April (Workshop by Vincentia, Screening of Rebuilding Hope)

Hi everyone,

For starters, all I can say is “wow!” and not in a good way. I heard the news report today that due to the recent healthcare vote at least 10 members of Congress are requesting additional security after receiving threats of harm directed at them and members of their families. On the one hand, unfortunately, news like this is not really shocking any more. On the other hand, it begs the question: how did we get here?

The recent healthcare debate is an obvious example of people on both sides of the issue with very strong opinions. With the passage of this legislation, some are pleased by this historic occurrence, while others are adamant that this will destroy the country. Yet others feel it did not go far enough…

Why do so many move so quickly to outrage when faced with devastating disappointment? Are they feeling heartbroken and sobbing out their sorrow? Or are they avoiding their fear of feeling powerless by getting lost in an angry defense? How did we lose our way in knowing what to do with life’s disappointments?

This is why it feels very timely to present a workshop on Heartbreak and Disappointment. We are glad to have Vincentia Schroeter present on such difficult topics, especially in these challenging times. All information is on the website. There is limited space and early registration ($40) ends on Friday, April 16th.

I hope you will join us.
