Need Calvert constituents for upcoming visit on Darfur
Hi everyone,
We had some very positive experiences this week as we engaged in dialogue with staff members at the offices of Rep. Sanchez, Rep. Campbell and Rep. Miller on issues relevant to Darfur. Our most urgent “ask” was to make sure that there is $50 million for Darfur peacemaking / peacekeeping included in supplemental appropriations due to be voted on sometime this month.
We received the same message as before from all three offices: hearing from constituents matters! So, please keep in touch with your local Representative about Darfur.
Right now would be a great time to call about the upcoming vote on the $50 million in supplemental appropriations. If you don’t know who your Congressman is, use the 1-800-GENOCIDE hotline and after entering your zip code you can be connected to the correct Representative for your District. (Rep. Campbell who sits on Budget Committee is a particularly important contact for this vote.)
We will visit the office of Rep. Calvert on May 8th (a.m.), but we do not yet have even one of his constituents among attendees for this meeting. Are any of you a Calvert constituent, interested in going with OCFD on this visit, and available the morning of May 8th? If so, please get in touch with me.
Thanks!
Barbara
